The Big Gamble

The first big splash in this offseason came from the Washington Nationals signing Jayson Werth, for a Barry Zito sized contract over seven years.  This left a hole in the Phillies lineup, zapping all of their power from the right side of the plate.  Would they pick up another big bopper, do they trust the [...]

Tejada a Giant

Juan Uribe 3 years, $21 million, Derek Jeter 3 years (or more) for $30 million up to $66 million (as he wants) or Miguel Tejada 1 year for $6.5 million.  The SF Giants really hit a homerun with this decision.  They got the best shortstop on the market at the best price.  There was no [...]

Giants Finally Add Power

The San Francisco Giants have finally added power to their lineup.  No they didn’t get Manny Rodriguez even though they really should.  They just traded for Jose Guillen from the Kansas City Royals for a player to be named later.  Guillen has hit 16 home runs and has 62 RBI in 106 games so far this season.

Who is Walker?

When you hear the name Walker, you may be thinking about the Canadian baseball player, and Montreal Expos great, Larry Walker. Neil Walker, 24, a Pittsburgh native, currently playing for the Pirates, is the new starter at second base.  He is replacing Akinori Iwamura, the highest paid player on the Pirates roster, commanding a 4.85 [...]

The Texas Two-Step

The first two things when you think of the Texas Rangers may be Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz.  They are the big bats in the lineup that will put RBIs on the board every night.  The reason to their success, as with most teams, is due to pitching.  Two new members in their rotation are [...]
