Trades and injuries often help the remaining players of a team put up better stats. In fantasy sports this is always the case. The most interesting case might be of Chris Douglas-Roberts. CDR as he is known, for having the most letters in his uniform by far, as you can clearly see from this picture, is a starter thanks to Vince Carter getting traded to Orlando and injuries to Courtney Lee and Devin Harris.
1. Corey Maggette SF/PF GSW – He has been averaging about 28 minutes a night over his past four games. He has been getting more playing time with the injuries to Biedrins and Turiaf. It is unknown when they will be able to return, and Maggette has thrived in their absence. The Warriors can put up points in little time, and this is exactly what Maggette has done. He has posted 89 points and 28 rebounds, which equal out to an average of 22.25 points per game and 7 rebounds per game. If you need some quick points, Maggette should continue his efficient shooting and grab a few boards per game.
2. Will Bynum PG DET – Who knew that Bynum would be the most electrifying dunker on the Pistons? The Pistons seem to be taking on a more offensive approach this year with the additions of Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. Bynum has been getting about 30 minutes of playing time in the last week; his minutes are increased due to the injury to Rip Hamilton (He was expected back this weekend but he won’t be ready). Bynum is a solid source of a few steals a game and has been putting up 20 points or more in three of his last four contests.
3. Marco Belinelli SG TOR – Belinelli was a forgotten man with the Warriors, and the Raptors gladly took him off their hands. It may be that Belinelli can now converse in his native tongue with Andrea Bargnani, or the fact that he actually gets playing time these days. He is only getting about 28 minutes per game, but he is becoming a three point threat. He has hit 11 shots from downtown in his last four outings. He is currently shooting 48.7 percent from downtown, if he can stay anywhere above 40 percent, he should be receiving more minutes in Toronto.
4. Chris Douglas-Roberts PG/SG/SF NJN – Roberts has posted games of 27 and 31 points in his last two games, also grabbing 22 boards and swiping four steals in those two games. The winless Nets have two bright sports with Lopez and Douglas-Roberts. I am curious what will happen with Douglas-Roberts playing time over the next week with Courtney Lee and Devin Harris returning from injuries over the weekend. I don’t see why the winless Nets could keep someone performing this well out of their lineup.
5. Drew Gooden PF/C Dal – Gooden has been putting up double doubles in his last three games, and has blocked 7 shots over his last four games. The injury to Shawn Marion has opened the door for Gooden to get more minutes. Dallas has been playing exceptional ball with the new found emotion that is inside of Dirk Nowitzki. Gooden should continue to shoot a high percentage and grab some rebounds if Marion’s ankle continues to give him problems.
