I just dug up an interesting fact about Mr. Blatche; he didn’t play college basketball.  He declared himself available in the 2005 NBA Draft right out of high school.  He was taken as the 49^th pick in the second round by the Wizards.  Blatche has bounced around the D-League and being called up to the NBA over the past few years.

Etan Thomas, Michael Ruffin, and mostly recently Brendan Haywood have blocked any playing time for Andray Blatche over the years.  I find this hard to believe, because most big men who are 6 feet 11 inches, 250 pounds, are usually out on the floor shooting the rock.  Speaking of shooting the rock, Blatche has been putting up roughly 18 shots a game of his last nine, while shooting a white lightning hot 60 percent from the field.

Blatche has been a double-double machine as of late, posting a double-double in six of his last nine games.  The trade of Antawn Jamison and Brendan Haywood opened the door for Blatche to get his time on the floor.  He has taken the most of his opportunities as of late, and should continue to do so for the rest of the season.  Flip Saunders hasn’t had a big man that can score like Blatche since the old days of coaching Kevin Garnett in Minnesota.  I bet that Flip is really “Flipping out” over the level of play that Blatche has been playing lately.  The Wizards may seem to be rebuilding, but they have made all the right moves since dealing with the fiasco of Arenas and Crittenton earlier this season.  Look for the Wizards to compete next year, especially with a high draft pick in this upcoming draft.
