T-Mac to the Big Apple?

Rumors have been swirling about the possibility of Tracy McGrady finally landing in New York before Thursday’s trading deadline.  I believe that more deals will start to fall into place after the seven player Dallas-Washington deal. That deal, makes it difficult for the Knicks to acquire McGrady, but it still might be in the works.  In the NBA it isn’t about that players you get back, it seems to be about the matching up of the salaries for each players.  It will be a welcomed addition, just as long as he doesn’t make another 3-0 series lead guarantee.

I would like to see T-Mac in a Knicks uniform, I especially would like it if they would get rid of Al “I chuck the ball every time I touch the ball” Harrington.  It may even open the door for the young guys to get some big minutes and see what they are made of (Gallinari and Hill).  The Knicks didn’t waste the seventh pick of last year’s draft for nothing, and it isn’t like their record is going to get any worse.  The Knicks have lost 7 out of their last 8 going into the all-star weekend, and somehow are only six games out of the eight seed in the Eastern Conference.

We may only get T-Mac on a rental basis for the rest of the year, but anything that changes the makeup of the team is a step in the positive direction.  I know that there are positives for the season, with David Lee being named an all-star, and Nate winning his third dunk title.  We all forget that he was benched for 14 games however. I am not saying that the season is a total bust or a waste, but once we get past 25 wins, it will be a step above last year’s total.
